Week 1

BJ Berquist

Wednesday, Jan. 11

16:00 - 17:00 GMT

Maryanne Burgos (Jan 11)

BJ did an excellent job of "herding cats".  Actually I used to have an office at TappedIn, so I was basically aware of some of the features of the site.   BJ's tour was a good refresher course for me.  However, I felt for both BJ and some of the participants, since this is a site which requires quite a bit of exploring to figure out.  It's easy to "get lost" but BJ did a great job of covering the basics for everyone.  The rest is up to each of use to spend some time "playing around.

Lawan Dalha (Wed Jan., 11)

The tour was quite excellent and exciting! Good job and thanks to our dear moderators, coordinators and participants; indeed to BjB for a smooth-sailing, yet bombarded with series of questions journey! it was a great job!
Cheers
Lawan

Sameh Tharwat (Jan. 11)
Really I would like to thank all the moderator who stand for this nice work. Special thanks for BJ Berquist our guest today who has a lot of information and a nice explanation for that good site, Tapped In, I wish I were able to add more comments on the live session but unfortunatly I was not. Any way I will try next.

Thanks

Daniela Tomatis ( Jan. 11 )

A big big thank you to the moderators who helped me find my way around! At the beginning I felt a bit confused but then I enjoyed the tour and it was a nice experience.

Stella (Jan11)

I arrived late and could hardly find my way in Tapped in :-(

Anyway I can see that you all found it a great experience! I hope I can make it next time

stella

Karen F (Jan 11)

BJ gave us a great introductory tour of Tapped In.  Thanks so very much for covering so much information as well as addressing the many questions we were asking. We are off to a terrific start in our webtools study!

David Balmaceda (Jan 11)

Grateful for the enriching tour at “Tapped in” Now, I’m willing and ready to explore more about it base on the basic info given. I want to thank the coordinators and BjB for this first good live session and the upcoming ones.

Bob (Jan 12)

Sorry I missed the tour, but I have read the transcript and had a quick look round Tapped In. It looks like a really useful tool. Thank you BJB. I hope to try and use it on Sunday.

Rossana Mandich ( 12 Jan)

Interesting tour,  even if time was short and only a few features were introduced to us. Now it's time for us to explore and make the most of it. BjB was very kind and ... patient ;-)

Catherine Boissier

Sorry I missed the tour - I gather it was interesting and fun! Next time.

Shirley Delsart ( 1/12)

I wasn't able to make it to the 1st live session, but I did read the transcript and try to find my way around the Tapped In campus. I hope I can be at the next session.

Mariel Amez (Jan 12)

Tapped In is a quite daunting environment. I had accessed it on several occasions in the past, but had never been able to make much sense of it. Thanks to BJB for a most enlightening tour (with outstanding "crowd" management) that gave participants a grasp of the basics and encouraged us to explore it further.

Deborah Kerr (Jan 12)

I missed the tour, too--was early and then late in my explorations, but read the transcript, ventured there again alone and wandered around, looking for a Webhead:).  I met a guy named Jeff, who is an experienced resident and helper, and chatted with him.  It was so much fun! I so look forward to future meetings there.  Does the Webhead group have a permanent presence at Tapped In?  A building/room/office?  Can anyone open an office?  Is there enough office space for everyone?  Can new buildings be built? I guess I'll figure all of this out.  I felt like a  kid with a Eurail pass--waking up in a new city, getting off the train, and bounding out into an exciting and unknown place with friendly and fascinating new people and sights .  I plan on returning often--there is so much to explore!  Thank you for introducing us to it.  Fun, fun, fun:)

Anita Belancic

It was an interesting tour, although short, but enough to make introduction and encourage us to search further, for features that we can use. Thanks for help and nice too meet u all, there in the room :-)!

Zhilla

BJB's session was great. Specially because there were some very patient and skillful people who helped me enter the room. I enjoyed it very much! It was very informative and clear. Thank you!:-)

Carolina Marcote (Jan 12)

I couldn't make it but I want to thank BJ for sending the transcript. I copied it to a word file, edited it to have only BJ's explanations and read it! Very clear, BJ!! (if you guys want a copy of my edited version, send me an email! I love sharing!!!). I have also found this link http://tappedin.org/tappedin/web/help/ui.jsp that may be of use !! It was for me. I created my office, uploaded a picture, learned about room tools and info, edited my room/office (changed look and feel and note style), wrote on the board and added a link!

Thanks a lot for this learning experience!

Magdalena Selova (Jan 12)

Thank you for the tour BJB. It was my first time in TappedIn and I found it really helpful.

Alsu Gilmetdinova (Jan 13)

I wanted to thank BjB, moderators and participants for the first quite information Live Session. I appreciated step by step explanation of different features of the Life tour. It was great to be able to have a hands-on experience and try things out as the session progressed, however at times due to my explorations I unknowingly logged out of the chat room.
As many other participants I am interested in learning how to invite students to this digital platform. If you can point out the tour that can help accomplish that, I would be very grateful. During the seminar somebody mentioned Jeff as being knowledgeable in this area, yet I didn't find any specific information related to setting up a classroom page on his webpage.
Once again, let me express my gratitude for all the hard work you put in. Hats off...

Dawn Kobayashi (Jan 14)

I couldn't attend the tour unfortunately, but a few thoughts occurred to me from reading the transcript.

1. This is a really good forum for teachers/students to get together, plus we don't need to worry about bandwidth or if we have mic/ camera.

2. I think you need a lot of patience to lead a session in this environment! The moderator did a great job!

3. This kind of session can be disorientating to participants. People aren't sure when they can 'speak' when they should listen. If we wanted to use this with our students they would need orientation first.

Thank you for the tour!

Sneza (Jan 14)

To cut the long story short, I wanted to attend the Tour, I watched the tutorial, was there just in time, logged in as a guest, (by now ready for all sorts of  unexpected surprises I thought it would maybe take longer to become a member) and waited for the Tour to start. I wandered around TappedIn building, went to the Reception and all the other rooms but nothing happened. The chatbox did not open at 5 but there was a puzzle piece instead. L I couldnt be helped! I blamed my guest status.  Later I read the Chatlog and discovered there were other guests who could take part. So why not me? I asked somewhere here but forgot the path to my question. I went back to TappedIn ask the question there and Pati explained I did not have Java installed. Indeed I did not, so I went back there and now even opened my office, where I had a nice chat with myself (I wanted to check if everything is OK).  As for the tour, I am so sorry I have missed it. I have read the Chatlog and enjoyed it. Congratulation to BJ! Hope to meet you in TappedIn building!

Dilian Xiomara Ortìz Sabillòn     (  January  14 )

Week 1 is almost over and having the opportunity of attending the live session  represented a terrific startas KarenF previously mentioned.   I agree with Daniela that at the beginning I felt a little bit confused, after all trying something new can make us feel uncertain, but fortunately we met very patient and skillful desk volunteers  at Tapped  :   BJB, Jeff, David, SandraS  and KarenL   they were very helpful  !!

As Magdalena this was my first time using this tool , and it was very enriching since I learned that :

  1.  @ Deborah :   We can all open an office, joing a group or create a new one.
  2. There we can find very helpful links such as :

      http://en.childrenslibrary.org/        ,  http://www.nwp.org/cs/public/print/events/572?x-t=sites_eos.view∨=site_eos

     and     http://www.thinkfinity.org/

       3. There are a lot of resources posted under  the featured items on the web window .

I believe most of us think the same as Maryanne, Rossana, Mariel, Deborah, and Anita that in order to use it effectively , we must become curious and explore all that different rooms this “  RICH “ campus offer us as educators.

Now I invite you to  join my group :   ACCESS   S.P.S.   There I have opened some discussion threads  that I`d like you to check out.  Please invite me once you open yours   !!!

How has this experience impacted my teaching?

Sometimes  we “ assume “  our students know the answers, other times we believe an exercise is easy for them,  as there are also times we ask a question and want to get a fast answer.  But we must realize that not all our students feel confident enough to deal with “ something new “  . Learning can make some of them feel “ uncertain ”, not knowing what  to do, the common obstacle of not wanting to make mistakes in front of others interrupts their development.  So there is when we must appear, to help, monitor and encourage  as BJB did very well, to let them feel confident, to give them good examples, to set a good environment, to let them know that we  “ do not always know it all “ but we must always try, or to simply say some warming words such as “  Very good job”, “ Excellent “   Waves …smiles …Didn`t we feel more comfortable after reading such words in our chatting screen ?

So Week 1 and particularly this live session can help us feel like our students, to be on their shoes . It  motivates us to improve our teaching and technological skills … and as I read somewhere “  All we need is to cyber-wave !!!

What about you??  What did you like the most about tapped in ?

How has this activity impacted your teaching?

I`m eager to hear from you !!

Karen Scarlett (January 14)

It was great to experience Tappedin for the first time. I learned many things including that I needed to exercise patience! I have no idea how BJB was able to get thru the information as well as she did. I have done a bit of exploring but not enough to be comfortable in the space yet. I am looking forward to seeing & "test driving" some more new tools.

Cholpon Musaeva (15Jan)

I would like to tank JBJ, coordenators and moderators for a wonderful tour which was insightful and clear, it was great. However, I'd like to learm more about ow to create and sustain a tapped-in account for my students.

Iona Sarieva (January 15)

I would agree with all of you – it was a great experience participating in the live session. At the beginning I was a little confused just like some of our group mates but the moderators and BJ did really good job guiding the group. Tapped In is a great place for educators and for people who are eager to explore and use technologies for learning. I am exploring the opportunities it provides and thinking about the ways I can use it in my teaching and research. I would appreciate any ideas and examples!

Faith Fishley (January 15)

I did not get a chance to participate in the week one Live Session. But, after reading the transcript and exploring Tapped In on my own with the help of one of the volunteers in the reception area, I believe I could find this a very useful tool to use with learners.

Mumi  (Jan. 16 )

I joined the group on Thursday, after the live session so I missed it but have been browsing Tapped In and it looks interesting. However, I am still trying to find my way through it and most important I need to figure out how to exploit it for what I am doing now and for the benefit of my trainees. It seems to be a huge platform to exchange ideas, invite opinions and enjoy meeting people. I look forward to joining the next chat on Sunday and experience Tapped In live.

Thaís Loureiro  (Jan. 17 )

I couldn't joined the tour. but I read the chatlog and now I'm exploring the Tapped In environment. I am totally opened for new opportunities to learn and share. I've already read here the benefits as lowest bandwidth, no cameras and mics and probably in some contexts that can be very usefull. But I don't like the interface/design and this kind of limitations. I believe there is already avaiable other tools to use in classes. I created an account and I will participate in some groups to feel how this work. So I will come back to give another feedback.

Branko Rumenovic (Jan.19)

Hello from me. I am a little late. I have my teaching class in the morning. I am glad to be here. I have read what are you write. So I am going in learning proces. By

Week 2

Michael Coghlan

Wednesday, Jan. 18,

12:00 - 13:00 GMT

Carolina Marcote (Jan 18)

Michael is an outstanding presenter and singer!. It was really an enrinching session. I learned a lot!!  I will try the recipe asap!! Thanks Michael and moderators!

Cholpon Musaeva (18 Jan)

It was a great presentation, simple, clear, informative, and excellently delivered :)!

Thank you, Michael, for a wonderful presentation; and thank you, all the coordenators and moderators, for making it happen. :). Loved it.

Catherine Boissier (18 Jan)

Yes, I agree. Thanks for everything - clear, simple, informative. Great!

You didn't mention the negative side to the use of the internet as a teaching tool in that this will only increase the teachers' work load. At the moment I have 7 classes of university students - all very keen - but can you imagine the out of class time I'd have to spend replying to them / checking their participation / encouraging? In a system like mine in France, where teachers are paid by the hour, how is this teaching time going to be counted?

Another drawback for me is that in many of the institutions I work in, the access to certain sites, e.g. Facebook, is limited or even completely blocked.

I'm now practicing my singing (help!!) for next week's session!!

Branko Rumenović (Jan. 19)

Hello! I didnt be at the meeting (session) on line. I was at work. I did it today. What to say. This is a great presentation.  I am glad to learn abaut Synchronous and Asynchronous Tools. I work at school, and I am using email, facebook, Youtobe im my class teaching. Today I learn a lot. Thanks to Michael.

Lawan Dalha (Jan, 19)

Wow! its always good to have teachers around you! Thank you Fernanda and Marijana. I just clicked on the link and I'm here.

Well, I just said I must not go to so a long rest after such a wonderful and exciting time with Michael Coghlan, great team of moderators and indeed adventurous participants, without posting my comments. We really benefited a lot from the presentation and the contribution of participants  as well as the smooth coordination of our moderators, It was real multitasking and interesting, moving between windows, listening, chatting with some who wanted to come in and so on. Wish you more exciting coming sessions and fruitful group discussions. Thanks, see you around again

Karen Frazier Tsai (Jan 20)

I am so glad that I was able to catch Michael's presentation live! It was very early for me in So Cal, but I learned so very much about asynchronous and synchronous tools. Thanks, Michael!! I am continually amazed at all the tools available to us and am slowly trying each one, as my time allows! :-) I also thoroughly enjoyed Michael's Webheads song! Thanks so much for sharing it with us. Additional thanks to our moderators for helping all of us as we endeavor to navigate our way on the web with all these tools that are so new to us. And special thanks to Lawan for helping me find my way onto YM! I've used Skype for several years and still find it a bit easier to use than YM. But I'm sure, with more practice, I will get used to YM, too.:-)

Michael Coghlan (Jan 20)

I'm not sure if this comment will appear in the right place but thank you to you all for your thoughtful feedback. I'm especially pleased to read that people who listened to the recording while looking at the slides were able to get some value from the recording. Catherine - I am inclined to agree with you about the workload issue, particularly in the initial stages of becoming acquainted with educational technology. With greater familiarity you do get more efficient at it of course, but I am in constant discussion with educational managers in my workplace who believe that online learning will save time and therefore money, but I think that's only true for what are sometimes called 'set and forget' models of online learning where there is little active facilitation. I think this model has limited application and is not suitable for many students. Facilitated online learning takes a lot of time and care and in my opinion is not going to save money.

Sameh Tharwat (Jan 20)

Thank you, Michael, for such a wonderful presentation. I tried many time to join this meeting online. but unfortunately I was not able to make it. due to as I think miss using for yahoo messenger cause many invitations were send to me at the same time. But any way I was able to catch it asynchronous after it was uploaded online. Any way it was a great work hope to solve this problem in the future. :)

Sneza Filipovic (Jan 20)

As I had my classes around the time of the session, I managed to join for the last fifteen minutes. (So I used both synchronous and asynchronous tools for listening J). Although I am a complete beginner, I had no problem to find my way in and to listen to the end of the session.  It was informative and everything was clear. Thanks a lot to Michael for an excellent session! And also my thanks to Ayat for guiding me through YM!

Bob Lejkowski-Clark (Jan 21)

Thoroughly enjoyed the session with Michael, Have just had a chance to review it and realised how much useful information was being given to us. And what a finale. Thank you Michael and the mods especially toot-Tawel (Ayat) for helping me get in in the first place. I look forward to trying out some of the sites even just for experiment at this stage.

David Balmaceda (Jan 23)

Thanks a lot to Michael Coghlan and all coordinators and co-mod of the second week, in which I did not just learn about synchronous and asynchronous ways of communication but also had the opportunity to practice and experience them through yahoo messenger and Skype. Now I’m looking forward to exploring and learning more about the other tools suggested. J

Mumi (Jan 24)

Interesting presentation by Michael. I already teach using blended learning and the virtual campus but from listening to Michael and checking out the ppt I have got lots of insight on how to exploit other tools, particularly those asynchronous ones which are more available for our students since our connections are not always good. For me, it is a thrill to know about Second Life in Education but as Michael already warned us, my connections was not good enough to experience it fully. I loved the Glasbergen cartoon, Glasbergen is one of my favourites and I use his work in my training sessions. Another feature that fascinated me was that Michael was the living proof that Actions speak louder than Words since he interspersed his presentation with questions and invitations to the people from the floor just as he suggests we should do in the slide where he gives the Skills of the Live Online Presenter. Excellent job!! Just a pity I cannot experience a live session yet. Still one week behind in spite of my efforts, boohoo!!!

Dilian Ortìz  (Jan 26)

Thank you for the wonderful presentation about the usage of different synchronous and asynchronous communication tools.  Learning about them is really important.  I think it was very clear , and I like it a lot because while Michael was explaining we were also able to read the information .  Many  students are visual learners so including graphs and well detailed slides is a very good idea.   I hope to include  these  tools in my teaching  !!

Week 3

Graham Stanley

Monday, Jan 23

20:00-21:00 GMT

David Balmaceda (Jan 24)

A really interesting conference yesterday where we were able to know more about creating our PLN through twitter and facebook.  I also learned some new features about twitter. However, I prefer facebook since, for me, it has more tools that make the learning more interactive and fun :). Thanks a lot to Graham Stanley, the coordinators and co-mod of this 3rd week. I really appreciate your time and dedication. Thanks!

Gil (Jan 25)

Although I have an account with Twitter I don´t normally use it with my students. I´m not very familiar with the resources it has and this is why I liked Mr. Stanley´s presentation very much. I could learn a lot. Thanks.

Lawan Dalha (Jan., 26)

It was quite unfortunate I missed larger or almost all part of Graham's presentation. Thanks to the possibility of recording and to our moderators who made it possible. I listened to the recording, was quite interesting. It has changed my view of social networking tools, especially twitter and facebook. One would have thought they were more of  socialization than what they appeared to be in the presentation; they could also be evolutionary tools in education. Thank you Graham and to all of you for this great opportunity.

Catherine Boissier (26 Jan)

I never use Facebook or Twitter so this is a whole new experience for me. It was really interesting to hear Graham talk about their use in class as it was something I would normally shy away from. His talk was very eye-opening and has made me understand the future possibilities of all these tools now available. I also realised that I need to spend time getting to know them and getting to know how to use them with confidence, before introducing them into the classroom. As Graham guided us smoothly through his talk, the other new experience was trying to follow the conversations going on at the same time by the other participants. Wow!, it was quite an experience and I was rather in shock afterwards! I have a lot to learn and thank you all for this opportunity. Catherine

Carolina Marcote (26 Jan)

I am a fan of Facebook groups but after the presentation I realized Twitter can be of great use as well. I have already created my account and I am following some people too. Looking forward to the chat session!

Thanks a lot Graham for your wonderful presentation. It was clear and informative! Great session!

Reem (27 Jan)

hello all! I really want to thank all moderators and co-mods. Thank you Graham for this useful and great session although being acquainted with twitter yet you gave me a great idea which is to create a  blog for my students who are young learners just to reflect and comment on different topics discussed in class and i think this will give them the chance to practice language and enhance their oral and writing skills.Thank you!!

Bob (27 Jan)

Thank you for an interesting tour of twitter, I have started using it a little more now and am slowly increasing my PLN. As you said in the presentation I was originally a little wary of this and was limiting my contacts to very few people. I have loads more in 24 hours! I really want to review it again later and see what other gems I can find. Thank you to the Mods for recording everything and making it easily available to us

Branko Rumenovic (28 Jan)

Hello. I have a profile on facebook and I have never used Twitter. After your excellent presentation, I opened an account on Twiter and began to use it. Thank you for your wonderful presentation. Not only Twiter, but everything else was very helpful. Thank you.

Sameh Tharwat (Jan 31)

Thank you,Graham, for such a wonderful presentation. I tried many time to join this meeting online. but unfortunately I was not able to make it. Any way I was able to catch it asynchronous after it was uploaded online. Any way it was a great work hope to participate actively in the future. :)

Andrea (Feb 4)

I'm finally catching up with the BAW2012 sessions I've missed.  I was keen to listen to Graham's session because, although I'm already an avid Twitterer (@worldteacher), he always has something new to say.  I wasn't disappointed!  Thanks!

Mumi ( Feb 14)

This is a preposterous comment having finished the BAW2012 but did not want to leave without thanking Graham for having provided me with the courage to start using Twitter and Facebook for professional development purposes and socialization. I was reluctant to join these two but having heard the ample possibilities to exploit both as teaching tools I surrendered.  Thanks Graham, could not attend the live session here but learnt a lot from your page.

Federico Bertón ( Feb 18)

I was not at the presentation so I looked at the slideshow and listened to the audio, thank you so much Graham for the twitter tour, I didn't know Twitter was so useful. I've never used twitter in any of my teaching practices but after having listened to Graham I'd like to try it.  Thank you!!!

Week 4

Arjana Blazic

Tuesday, Jan. 31

17:00-18:00 GMT

Carolina Marcote (Jan 31)

Excellent presentation by Arjana! Super clear and useful! She shared a lot of tools. I will start exploring them little by little. Right now, I am very happy I am meeting people like Arjiana, the moderators, coordinators and participants ready to share everything they know!!! Thanks a lot!

Anita Belancic (Jan 31)

This presentation was my first experience with these tools, and I agree with previous comment- a lot of it was shared! I wil also explore it little by little. At first, one could ask "Why to use so many different tools for similar or same purpouse?", but Arjana answered this  unasked question- because students are highly interested in new tools but get very fast bored with the same one. Understandable! Thank you Arjana and all the moderators and coordinators!

Lawan Dalha (Feb 2)

Though busy on a journey, but I can't help to drop my comment for Arjana's presentation. It was an excellent one! It touched one of the core aspects of language pedagogy. Many of us have been teaching language, but quite few of us have taken our time to explore aspects of evaluation and assessment. With this presentation I'm beginning to think that if one takes time to explore all the online teaching resources, then its possible in the nearest future many classes will be shifted online! Thank you very much Arjana, thank you BAW coordinators and moderators and thank you participants for this great sharing. See you around.

Sneza (2nd Feb)

Thanks a million to Arjana for her wonderful session! I am personally interested in testing, nevertheless, as a complete newbie I`ve never tried any of this tools! As I sometimes have to prepare tests for our exams and for classroom work I am sure I will start using them a lot. It took me two nights to realize I can`t explore all these tools and write a comment afterwards.  I easily get carried away by some interesting feature and time flies when you have fun! So it will probably take me a month for this abundance of high-quality tools! What a great way to share with others! So thanks again Arjana, Marijana and the whole BaW team for this outstanding session!

I`m afraid I have nothing to  share, and I would really like to, so I`ve decided at least to share something remotely connected with this  topic. It is my powerpoint presentation on making multiple choice tests better. I`ve put it in my wiki so if anybody would like to have a look, please do!

http://snezawiki.pbworks.com

Reem mourad

Thank you so much Arjana for this wonderful and valuable information. I think that making tests and exercises will be more a fun rather than a task!!. I will explore each and every website but of course this will take time anyway thank you for such clear helpful information about these web tools.

Branko Rumenovic (Feb  2)

Hi. Thanks to Arjana on excellent presentation. I learned a lot about the new internet tools. It should be full time to explore everything. Today I explore a ProProfs tool, and I really like it. I'll make a questionnaire for my students and use it in class. I hope to catch a little time to explore other tools. Thanks again Arijana and others. I look forward to a new meeting with you. :)

Catherine Boissier

It was a very rich and interesting talk from Arjana - well prepared and with some great advice. She has certainly explored so many web tools and I must thank her for the huge number of things I am now slowly looking at. Again, it is a time factor thing in that it is so important to find the appropriate tool per test in order to keep it interesting and efficient. But teachers really do have a wide choice out there!

Yet another great talk with the Moderator team doing some very slick organisation round the other participants. Well done!

Bob

I have found all of the sessions really useful and have just had a chance to watch the recording of this one. Unfortunately I couldn't attend at the time as I was working but this was so inspirational. It was so good to listen to somebody who has done so much in 2 years - such a good example for us all. Many thanks to Arjana, the mods and all who made this possible. ( Straight after this I went to eslvideo to try out this wonderful resource.- will try the others later)

Claudia (Feb 3)

Great session, I missed the first part, but then I listened to the recording.  Great job Arjana, thanks! And thumbs up to the moderators, thanks to the recordings we never miss any sessions.

Andrea (Feb 4)

I'm spending my Saturday catching up with all the sessions I've missed.  I particularly enjoyed this one from

Arjana.  The recommended tools and sites look great and I will look forward to exploring them all in greater detail over the next few days.  It was also good to pick up some useful tips on writing multiple choice questions, too - and the quote from William Glasser is going to be displayed on my desk on Monday morning!  Thanks!

Arjana (Feb 4)

Thank you for your wonderful comments, dear BaWers! It was a huge pleasure to be there with you and to have the opportunity to tell you about my experience with online testing tools.  As one of the BaWers, I'd like to encourage you not only to explore the tools but also to create your own tests and to share them online. Your students will appreciate it and so will other teachers who will use your tests in their classrooms.  I've just seen the presentation that Sneza shared here and I think it's wonderful and really useful for all of you who want to create online test. Thanks for sahring, Sneza :-)

Sameh Tharwat (Feb 7)

WOW, It is a great honor to be the first one who gives a comment to this marvelous presentation by the great Cláudio Azevedo and I Really  would like to thank all the moderator who stand for this nice work. yesterday was a wonderful day cause I have the chance to participate on line for the first time from the beginning of the course. The most important thing I have learned from Cláudio is to be creative. and to prepare very well for such a presentation. I was surprised by his intuitive responses for the questions of the attendance. Sure I am going to use his work in my classes ;)

Reem Mourad (Feb 5)

I  want to thank Claudio for such a great session. He stressed many ideas that I was thinking of when I made my wiki , and I really want to thank him because

He changed my class during the past term .The students started to enjoy the grammar lessons. They also started to watch films with an eye on grammar!!His blogs are really enjoyable for all age groups. It helps a lot in creating fun in class and makes grammar your best part of teaching!!!.

Catherine Boissier (Feb 05)

Yet another great talk offered to us by Claudio and all the BaW team. It was really good to see examples of Claudio's work and how to use his film segments. But more than that,, how uplifting it was to hear teachers present at the talk responding with their own experience with his work in their classrooms, expressing so many thanks. Claudio surely deserves all that praise for his most dedicated work. What a great model he is for us!

For me, the first part of the talk was the most important, however. Claudio shared with us his past reflections about his own teaching, of the bad feeling of falling behind other teachers, of being a 'bloodsucker' and of the huge challenge to move on and find the light! I feel like a teacher still in that darkness and I was so relieved to hear someone else (and of Claudio's standing) admitting that it is OK to feel like that. As an older teacher with a great deal of experience, the web tech boom has really thrown me back to being a beginner again! Teaching is always a challenge with great responsibility but thanks to people like Claudio, as well as the Baw group, I can start to see the light at the end of the tunnel! Thank you.

I must say that Caludio's presentation was another great session that we had learnt so much. He's such a munificent and true teacher who believes in the power of sharing and helping others, just like many of you. I find his presentation very educative, comprehensive and above all inspiring! Thank you Claudio for all these. I must also thank our coordinators and moderators for these numerous opportunities given to us, which are really enriching us professionally. Thank you all!

Claudia (February, 6)

Thanks Claudio for such an inspiring session!

I've never used film segments to implement grammar before (now I'm looking forward to starting the school year to try these activities with my students).

Branko Rumenovic (Feb., 9)

Hy. I was stuck in the snow and I was not at the presentation. I looked at the slideshow. Good job.

Karen Frazier Tsai (Feb 10)

I just finished listening to Claudio's presentation. It was fantastic! I learned so very much and certainly am so encouraged about trying to do a blog. I'm reassured that most of us are not sure what to say as we start a blog. Thank you, Claudio, for your encouragement. Also, thank you for such a marvelous blog that is so useful to all teachers of English! Looking forward to joining my fellow BAW participants for the next and final presentation.

Week 5

Special Session: Ayat Tawel, Claudia Carrill, Maria Bossa, Marijana Smolcec, Sharon Betts

Larisa Olesova Let me leave the comments for our dear presenters Ayat, Claudia, Maria, Marijana and Sharon for their great job done during this live session. All of us were able to see how this community of practice Becoming a Webhead impacted our life. Today's presentation reminded me the days when I met Teresa at TESOL 2001 who worked on the book on Online Collaboration. Teresa wrote about my online collaboration with my advisor Dr.Christine Meloni. Since that time, I have done several collaborations with different classes. Thanks to Marijana today who reminded me about the wiki page we launched last year. The page devoted to online collaboration where Ayat and Maria, Claudia and Marijana met to discuss and start their cross-cultural collaboration between classes in different countries. Today, we saw how BAW and communication impacted all these nice teachers around the world. I think it is time to get prepared for own book on the recipes of online collaboration after BAW!

Branko Rumenovic (Feb., 9)

Very good presentation and excellent examples. Bravo to all. Excellent job Marijana. Students who have participated in your project are also my students. Bravo our students. :)

Catherine Boissier (Feb. 9)

What can I say?  wow!!  24 hours later I'm still on a high from the energy, enthusiasm and smiles that came out of these presentations. The best way for a teacher to become a good teacher is to see, watch and follow really good teachers. You might be 'baby' BaW moderators but your mentors must be proud of you! And your students must be having fun while learning fast. This is what the future of teaching is about. Thank you all for a great session.

Hats off...

I did not get a chance to participate in the week one Live Session. But, after reading the transcript and exploring Tapped In on my own with the help of one of the volunteers in the reception area, I could find this a very useful tool to use with learners.

Although I have an account with Twitter I don´t normally use it with my students. I´m not very familiar with the resources it has and this is why I liked Mr. Stanley´s presentation very much. I could learn a lot. Thanks.
